Service 03

Kitchen renovation

When the carcasses are sound, there is no need to replace the whole kitchen. We replace or refresh the parts that are worn or that bother you.

In most kitchens, the parts you use every day wear out first: fronts, handles, drawer runners and the worktop. The carcasses are often still sound, so renovation makes sense when the layout works for you and you only want to refresh or repair the kitchen. You keep the parts that still do their job and avoid dismantling the whole kitchen.

When we visit, we check the condition of the carcasses, hinges and runners and tell you what is worth renovating and what should be replaced. The job can be small, such as new handles and runners, or larger, with new fronts and a worktop. If the kitchen needs more than a refresh, we will tell you that too.

What we pay attention to

01

Fronts for existing carcasses

We make new fronts to fit the existing carcasses, so that they line up with the hinges and neighbouring units. You can choose painted MDF, veneer or solid wood. If you are changing the handles too, choose them before we start, because we drill the holes for them in the new fronts.

02

Painting the units

Painting works best on MDF and solid wood fronts and less well on foil or laminate, where paint does not grip as well. We clean, degrease and sand the surface, then apply primer and a top coat. Wooden fronts can instead be lacquered or oiled, which keeps the grain visible.

03

Runners, hinges and handles

Drawers that stick or sag usually have worn runners. We replace them with new ones, if you like with soft-close runners that shut slowly and quietly. We adjust or replace the hinges so that doors close straight again, and fit new handles in the existing holes or in newly drilled ones.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

When is renovation not worth it?

When the carcasses have swollen from moisture or are damaged, when the layout no longer suits your needs, or when almost every part would need replacing. In that case, a new custom kitchen is often the better choice. When we visit, we tell you frankly what we recommend for your kitchen.

How much does a kitchen renovation cost?

It depends on the scope. Replacing handles and runners is a small job, while new fronts or a worktop are a larger one. The number of units and the materials chosen also affect the price. Once we have seen the kitchen, we prepare a quote. Call 031 882 452 or e-mail info@kosecinterier.si.

Can we use the kitchen during the renovation?

Mostly, yes. We replace handles, runners and hinges on site and the kitchen stays usable. While fronts are being painted or the worktop replaced, the kitchen is partly out of use for a while, so we agree on the schedule in advance and fit it around yours.
