Children’s rooms made to measure

We make the bed, desk and wardrobes to fit your child’s room and design them so they can be adapted as your child grows.

Children’s rooms are often the smallest in the home, yet they need space for sleeping, playing, studying and a great many things. Made-to-measure furniture makes use of every corner: the bed can be built in between wardrobes, with drawers underneath, and a desk area can go by the window. That leaves more floor space for play.

Because needs change quickly, we plan the room for several years ahead. A changing table can later become a chest of drawers, and a cot can be replaced by a teenager’s bed without changing the wardrobes. When two children share a room, each can have their own part of the wardrobe and their own space for their things.

Children’s rooms

What we pay attention to

01

A place to study

A desk should stand by the window or under good light, at a height that suits the child’s age. For school-age children, a wider desktop makes sense, with room for exercise books and a computer, and shelves or a small cupboard above it for school things.

02

Materials for a child’s room

Solid wood is sturdy and can be sanded down once years of play start to show. Painted MDF fronts are smooth and easy to wipe, which is an advantage in a child’s room. Instead of protruding handles, we can make finger grips in the fronts so that children do not bump into them.

03

Safety and fixing

We fix tall wardrobes and shelves to the wall so they cannot tip over, even if a child climbs them. Desk and shelf edges can be rounded. Raised beds get a guard rail and a sturdy ladder, and drawers can have a stop that keeps a child from pulling them right out.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can you make just a bed or a desk?

Yes. We can also make a single piece, such as a bed, desk or wardrobe, that matches the existing furniture in the room. If you plan to add to the room later, it is a good idea to design the new piece with the whole room in mind.

How high should a child’s desk be?

For adults, the usual height is around 75 centimetres, while younger children need a lower desk. One solution is a desk that we can raise later, or a height-adjustable chair with a footrest. Once we know your child’s age, we suggest a suitable height.

How much does a fully furnished child’s room cost?

The price depends on the size of the room, the number of pieces and the materials chosen. A single bed or desk costs less than a whole room with wardrobes. Once we have seen the room and agreed on what you need, we prepare a quote. Call 031 882 452 or e-mail info@kosecinterier.si.
